Hello 2010

Greetings my friends!
I hope you all had a fantastic new years celebration! I just wanted to thank each and every one of you for all your great support, comments, suggestions, and inspiration! I have a lot of great things planned for this year. I'm super excited, so keep your eyes and ears open!
Let's all work together as a community of creators to make 2010 an amazingly creative, inspiring and uplifting year!!! Be a little kinder, be a little stronger, be a little more willing to step into areas we may not have ventured before, and be a little more open to those little whisperings that urge us to be a little better.
Luv Rawls!

Lot of stuff going on right now... just trying to keep my head above water! Don't get me wrong though, things are great! We just put up our Christmas tree this weekend so the daughter is super happy... which means I'm super happy! And with that happiness, here's a sketch of Orange and a spooky garden shed.

And so begins winter! We had our first snow fall the other day and that sharp, forceful winter wind has kicked in! ...Time to break out the long johns and hot chocolate!Just a side note as well... I find it really awkward drawing snow with ink.

So the rainy days of November are pretty much over, as now the bitter winds kick in, frost appears in the morning, and snow begins to fall! The spirit of Christmas is already in the air!! And in that wonderfully uplifting spirit, I sketched Agent Orange... fighting... a giant, worm slug thingy?!I need more sleep.

Sorry for slacking on the postings my friends... this month has been ultra crazy for me. So I'm playing catch up by posting a handful of sketches for ya! It's getting colder out, so I'm sure this rain will soon turn into snow! Hope everyone is doing well!

Don't worry Evil Warlord... it's just the rain making you feel that way. The forecast for tomorrow looks better.

When I was a little kid with my nose in my comics... not unlike my life now... I always had a strong dislike toward characters like the Human Torch and Ice Man. I guess I was a pretty rational kid and just though, "What a lame character, you can just melt him or put him out with water." How wonderfully naive.FYI - Sue is in this sketch too... you just can't see her.

I've always thought how cool it would be to actually do this. Anyone else ever think of this or am I alone in my strange adventurous thinking? Your feet would probably still get wet, but everyone around watching would all be like, ".....whoa!"

Trying to stay positive amongst stressful times is tough... which is why I'm so grateful for my daughter's ever loving attitude toward life. Children are such perfect examples of positivity and optimism, even in the rain. A constant source of inspiration and motivation for me.Thanks Lilly.

Sorry for the slow posts over the last few days everyone... things have been ultra mega crazy in Rawlsland. So a double post today just to try and catch up! Funnily enough, it actually hasn't been raining around here all that much, which has been nice.

No ramblings today... but I suppose this sketch somewhat illustrates how my schedule and life have felt as of late!!

Personally, I always have double feelings whenever I see smokers outside having a smoke in the cold rain or snow. My more natural man side is saying, "Ha ha, you slaves... look at you freezing and getting all wet because you have no self control!"... while my more spiritual compassionate side says, "Oh you poor slaves... look at you freezing and getting all wet because you have no self control or awareness of the potential you have." Either way, I wish there was more I could do to open peoples eyes and minds to help them overcome such carnal blindness.

I'm sure we've all had one of those days where you go to leave your house, look outside, feel like you should bring an umbrella, think twice about it and end up NOT taking it... then regretting it.Lesson - ALWAYS follow your first instincts. I've found that 9 times out of 10, your first impressions are usually the right ones!

It always stinks when it starts to rain and you have your hands full. Its times like this that a nice umbrella hat would come in handy! ...do they even make those?! If not, they should.
